Goals

This training program aims to qualify people to work in several Aboriginal and Inuit childcare services or accompaniment and support parent programs.

Objectives/Competencies

List of skills :

Analyze the work functions;
Apply safety measures and first aid;
Monitor a child’s overall development;
Apply animation methods;
Conduct transition and routine activities;
Foster Native and Inuit values in childcare services;
Apply guidance methods;
Collaborate with the others members of the work team;
Conduct educational activities for infants and toddlers;
Conduct educational activities for preschoolers;
Conduct educational activities for school-age children;
Establish a supporting relationship with parents;
Detect children with special needs;
Implement an intervention plan for children with special needs;
Operate a home childcare service;
Conduct activities during home visits;
Evaluate the quality of services;
Make suggestions for improvements to childcare services;
Provide childcare services.

 

Admission conditions and prerequisites

Admission :

Hold a high school diploma (DES) or equivalent;
Have experience considered relevant;
Possess skills to work with children and families.
