What role does the company play in evaluating the work-study
program?
Companies that accept trainees are asked to participate in the evaluation of the work-study program and thus have an influence on program conditions. The company may be asked to contribute at two stages: When the practicum is evaluatedAfter the practicum, the school usually contacts the company for feedback on how the practicum went—not to get an evaluation of the trainee (this is done throughout the practicum) but to get feedback on practicum conditions: - Were the length and timing of the practicum satisfactory? - Was the trainee adequately prepared? - Did the school provide adequate support? - Were the materials and tools provided by the school suitable and easy to use? - Was the content of the Training Plan compatible with the realities of the workplace? Feedback from the company after each practicum helps the school identify any problems in the organization or management of the practicum so that changes can be made for the future. When the work-study program as a whole is evaluatedWhen the work-study program ends, that is, when all periods of classroom learning and on-the-job training have been completed, the school generally evaluates the program as a whole. Companies that participated in the work-study program may be asked to contribute to the evaluation. The purpose of the evaluation is to confirm the pertinence of the work-study program and the effectiveness and efficiency of the school-company partnership. |
