Objectifs du programme

This program is designed to train people to be special care counsellors. The technicians in special care counselling intervene concerning different problems: physical or psychological deficiencies, behaviour problems, mental or health-related problems, and after having taken care of adapting them, their re-integration to society.

Total length of training includes general training that is common to all programs for 420 hours, general training for this program for 150 hours as well as complementary general training courses for 90 hours.

Duration of training consists of theory and lab work for courses; personal time that the student invests is excluded.

Technicienne en éducation spécialisée

Les techniciens et techniciennes en éducation spécialisée, souvent appelées éducatrices spécialisées, apprennent aux élèves avec des troubles d’apprentissage à lire et à écrire. Au sein d’une équipe multidisciplinaire, elles peuvent intervenir auprès des personnes ayant une déficience physique pour les aider à se servir d’appareils conçus pour minimiser leur handicap, auprès des personnes âgées en perte d’autonomie ou avec les personnes ayant une déficience intellectuelle ou comportementale pour les soutenir dans le développement des habiletés sociales à travers différentes activités. C’est un métier très en demande qui requiert de l’empathie, de la créativité et surtout de l’écoute. Un emploi comme technicienne spécialisée convient aux personnes qui ont des aptitudes en communication, de la patience et une belle ouverture d’esprit.
