Support for Assistive Services in Health and Social Services Institutions (DVS)
This vocational training program prepares students for two occupations in the health and social services network:
Orderly (PAB)
Health and Social Services Assistant (HSSA)
Role of PABs and HSSAs:
Provide assistance with activities of daily living (ADL) for clients of all ages.
Support clients in maintaining autonomy despite disabilities.
Plan and organize work, and contribute to continuity of care, including palliative and end-of-life care.
Perform cleaning, disinfection, and equipment storage tasks.
Prevent infections, contamination, and health/safety risks while protecting the environment.
Admission Requirements:
Candidates must meet one of the following:
Secondary III credits (language of instruction, second language, and mathematics) or equivalent.
An Attestation of Equivalence of Secondary Studies (AESS).
The General Development Test (GDT) plus specific prerequisites in the language of instruction (ENG 3101-1, ENG 3102-2, or equivalent).
Also eligible: candidates 16+ by September 30 of the school year who hold a Training Certificate for a Semiskilled Trade (TCST) and the required Secondary Cycle One credits (or Secondary II in adult education) under the TCST–STC bridge.
