Description
*Now an ATE Program – Train as a School Daycare Educator with Built-In Work Experience*
Looking for a meaningful career working with children? Our School Daycare Educator program now follows the ATE format (Alternance travail-études) model. This means that you’ll gain real work experience in a school daycare while completing your training. This hands-on approach helps you build confidence and apply what you learn in real-time.
Program Highlights:
- 390-hour program with built-in internship (stage) in a school daycare
- ATE (internship) model will allow you to complete the program in a shorter timeframe.
- Evening classes three times per week: Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
- Hybrid format: Most classes are online, but some in-person attendance is required (Day 1, exams, and other dates as needed)
- Practical, experience-based learning through workshops, teamwork, and guided instruction
- Focus on child development, safety, activity planning, and creating inclusive, engaging environments for preschool and school-age children
By the end of the program, you will be qualified to work in school daycare settings. While successful completion of the program qualifies you to work in this field, please note that it does not guarantee employment within the Lester B. Pearson School Board (LBPSB).
Schedule & Calendar:
- No classes during March Break, Christmas Break (2 weeks), or the summer break (July and August)
- A detailed calendar will be provided on your first day
