MASSAGE THERAPY III – SPORT MASSAGE | 390 HOURS | 10 MONTHS

Training is offered every Monday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Event site training schedule: 10 sessions (6 hours each) will be scheduled on days other than Mondays. During certain weeks, students will be required to attend twice: on Monday (at the vocational training centre) and on a second day for the training at competition venues. Approximately two weekends at competition venues should also be expected.

This program is designed to prepare sport massage therapists to handle a wide range of situations that may arise in a sports setting. It also provides therapists with the tools they need to meet athletes needs throughout each phase of competition. Students will develop the ability to respond quickly and effectively to specific sports-related situations while applying appropriate intervention strategies.

A variety of manual techniques specific to sport massage will be covered, including assisted stretching, pre-event massage, jostling techniques, muscle testing, myofascial stretching and release, fascial line stretching, muscle activation and inhibition and more.

The program will also explore the psychological aspects of sports through key concepts in sports psychology and mental preparation, including motivation, attitude, concentration, anxiety, confidence, and more.

Applicants must be at least 18 years of age as of September 30 and:

Have completed a minimum of 600 hours of massage therapy training, including 15 hours of cupping therapy training.
The cupping therapy course may be taken concurrently with the program.
