The Landscaping Operations program prepares students to start a new career in the landscaping field. Landscapers work on gardens and maintain and beautify residential and commercial grounds. Our program will prepare you to build unique wooden structures such as benches, arbours and pergolas. Learn how to build stone walls, water/rock gardens, and install concrete features such as walkways and patios. Our curriculum also includes modules on living materials such as flowers, trees and shrubs, landscape planning, understanding job specifications, and using landscaping tools and machinery. Students often work in teams to enhance the creative, hands-on learning process and the program is complemented by a field placement in a professional landscaping setting. A nature lover's dream, this program will prepare you for a career in the great outdoors.

The Landscape Operations program objectives are to prepare students to practice the occupation of landscape worker. At the end of the program students integrate into the workforce by completing a 75-hour practicum. The objective of the practicum is to enable students to make connections between the knowledge, skills and attitudes acquired throughout their learning with the workplace.

During their practicum and under the guidance of the host supervisor, trainees will observe the work, integrate into the team, and participate in the various tasks depending on the sector they wish to work in. This can include plan reading, installation and maintenance of ornamental plants and lawns, installation of stone, concrete, and wood structures as well as irrigation and lighting systems in the public or private sector.

Host employers include companies offering design, installation, and maintenance of residential, commercial and public grounds such as parks, floral and green spaces as well as municipalities and public works.
