Program Objectives

Business management technicians will develop the responsibilities of managing a business or supervising a commercial sales team in a commercial establishment or company.

Those managing businesses work mainly in retail or wholesale, as well as businesses and specialized services in product sales services. The emplyees can be either salaried workers or independant contractors. In retail businesses, they hold a manager's title, in wholesale or specialized services, they usually hold a title of sales team supervisor.

The main responsibilities for a business management technician are to manage sales personnel, to attain sales objectives, to promote and market products or services, to acquire stocks as well as to assure customer service. As well as being responsible for the business or the sales team, these same people are sometimes called to participate in the sales of products and services.

Total length of training includes general training that is common to all programs for 420 hours, general training for this program for 150 hours as well as complementary general training courses for 90 hours.


Duration of training consists of theory and lab work for courses; personal time that the student invests is excluded.

Retail Sales Manager

Sales managers recruit and train new sales staff, manage schedules and assign tasks. They ensure customer service and monitor activities: purchasing, sales, inventory, etc. As part of their duties, they may be required to promote services, launch merchandise, and even analyze and process business data. It is a stimulating job but requires the ability to work under pressure and in a team. A career as a sales manager requires leadership and negotiation skills and a good capacity for analysis and synthesis.
