Program Objectives

The purpose of this program is to train educators for child care services for children ages 0-12 years. The main function of the educators consists of creating a an environment that favours physical, psychomotor, cognitive, language, and socio-affective skills, and morals while establishing a positive relationship with the children. They are also responsible for the conception, organization, animation and evaluation of activities that contribute globally to the development of the children that are left in their care.

Total length of training includes general training that is common to all programs for 420 hours, general training for this program for 150 hours as well as complementary general training courses for 90 hours.


Duration of training consists of theory and lab work for courses; personal time that the student invests is excluded.

Early Childhood Educator

Childhood educators, also referred to as daycare teachers, plan and host recreational and educational activities. They ensure children have a healthy diet and receive proper health and hygiene care. In their family daycare, school daycare, private daycare or early childhood center, they are responsible for observing and assessing the development and needs of preschool and school-age children and intervening when it comes to their behaviour. This is an essential job that requires empathy, self-reliance, alertness and creativity. It is suitable for people in good physical condition who enjoy being with children.
