Bricklayer-masons cut, trim and lay bricks. They build partitions with blocks of stone, concrete or glass to make walls. On job sites, they prepare and apply mortar. They may also be required to install architectural elements, insulation, and specialized materials on fireplaces, kilns, furnaces, etc., and even repair masonry. It’s a rewarding trade for productive, meticulous, perfectionist individuals with good manual dexterity. A job in construction as a bricklayer-mason requires good physical stamina, excellent vision and good balance, especially when working at heights.
