Objectifs du programme

The Professional Music and Song Techniques program aims to train musicians and singers in order to evolve in different styles of popular music. These styles mainly include 20th century music and song produced as entertainment for a mass market: rock, jazz, blues, pop, industry, ethnic, folk, world Beat, etc.

Specialisation A: Composition and Arrangement

This specialization stream allows the students to acquire skills in arranging as well as composing music and songs. Aside from instrumental music and song, people who arrange and compose may be called upon to compose musicals as well as participate in cinema, publicity and multimedia.

Specialization B: Performance

This specialization stream aims to train instrumentalists and popular music singers. As performers, instrumentalists and singers may work as soloists, members of an ensemble or accompanists. They must have a high level of skills in performance and sometimes in improvisation and theatrical expression. Generally musicians work on stage or in a recording studio.

Specialization C: Music Theatre Performance

This specialization aims to train those in theatre performance to be able to perform a play, to sing and to dance.

In addition, to be admitted to the program, students must meet the general conditions for admission set out in section 2 of the College Education Regulations, such as, for Specialization C: Music Theatre Performance; successfully completing an audition.

Total length of training includes general training that is common to all programs for 420 hours, general training for this program for 150 hours as well as complementary general training courses for 90 hours.


Duration of training consists of theory and lab work for courses; personal time that the student invests is excluded.

Les musiciennes et les musiciens jouent, seuls ou en groupe, des pièces de musique rock, pop, jazz, blues, folklorique, worldbeat, etc. Ils composent, arrangent ou improvisent des pièces de musique et de chansons, accompagnent des interprètes et réalisent des enregistrements. Ils peuvent avoir à jouer des personnages dans un spectacle de théâtre musical. C’est un métier passionnant pour les personnes créatives qui ont des aptitudes pour la musique tout en étant disciplinées, polyvalentes et rigoureuses.
