Valérie Boisvert, 27 ans et Félix Champagne, 26 ans, se sont connus alors qu’ils étaient élèves en Production agricole. Aujourd’hui mariés, parents de trois enfants, ils opèrent une petite ferme de lait de brebis dans les Cantons-de-l’Est

Décrocheur, mécanicien, puis enseignant en mécanique agricole, Martin Binette, 48 ans, témoigne de son parcours atypique, et de la passion qui l’anime pour les jeunes.

Le nombre de Français inscrits sur les registres consulaires de Québec et de Montréal a presque doublé depuis 2005. Bénédicte Morfin est venue à Montréal rejoindre son conjoint, mais elle a aussi choisi dans l’aventure de se réorienter en retournant sur les bancs d’école. 

L’enseignante Nancy Samson transmet son expertise et son amour de la pâtisserie à l’Institut d’alimentation et d’hôtellerie de Trois-Rivières. Après avoir été entraîneuse, elle s’investit comme juge aux Olympiades des métiers. C’est aussi une chocolatière d’exception et une femme d’affaires inspirante. Elle nous raconte son métier et son parcours professionnel. 

Jean-Baptiste Bortolus, 30 ans, est propriétaire associé d’un groupe d’importation de meubles et directeur des ventes au détail chez D’Loft, à Québec. Alors qu’il avait pourtant un excellent emploi et qu’il était en couple depuis plusieurs années, il a décidé de suivre son instinct et de traverser l’océan. Témoignage. 

Mélissa Maltais, 43, is a civil engineering and dam safety support technician for Hydro-Québec. We met up with her at the Jean-Lesage generating station, near Baie-Comeau, in Côte-Nord. She told us about her educational and professional background and experience as a woman in a male-dominated sector.

Dans l’industrie du camionnage, les femmes sont aujourd’hui présentes dans pratiquement tous les types de transports. Les critiques et commentaires négatifs deviennent tranquillement un (mauvais) souvenir du passé. Katie Tremblay, gaie et camionneuse, n’a pas eu à se battre contre les stéréotypes sur l’homosexualité ni à subir de commentaires désobligeants de ses collègues sur la route. Forte, fière et bien dans sa peau, elle nous raconte son parcours professionnel et sa passion pour la conduite. 

Virginie Pilotte, 24 ans, est détentrice de trois diplômes en formation professionnelle. La jeune femme, atteinte d’une surdité depuis la naissance, aurait pu baisser les bras mais elle a plutôt choisi de relever ses manches et de croire en ses rêves. 

Après avoir décroché de l’école, Kevin Poucachiche, 31 ans, natif de Lac Simon, a décidé de se prendre en main et d’apprendre un métier qui lui donnerait la motivation pour se lever et travailler tous les matins. Il a trouvé sa voie en étudiant en formation des adultes puis en formation professionnelle. 

Keely Shay Tekawisahá:wi Paul was raised by her mother and grew up in the Kahnawake territory, surrounded by a large family in a caring community. At 24, the young  Mohawk decided to tackle the challenge of returning to vocational school in a field that has always piqued her interest: construction.

Noami Jourdain grew up in Uashat, a small community of 1,500 Innu in the Sept-Rivières regional county municipality in the Côte-Nord region. The young 28-year-old has just completed the training program Protection and Development of Wildlife Habitats at the vocational school CFP du Grand-Fjord, pavillon La Baie, in the Saguenay region.

Matthew Poucachiche works at the Canadian Malartic Mine, one of Canada's largest open-pit gold mines, situated in Malartic, in the administrative region of Abitibi-Témiscamingue. The young man, who is in his twenties and a former dropout, went back to school to complete a double diploma in vocational studies before embarking on an exciting career in mining. He is telling us about his journey.

Stéphanie Cliche Mathieu, 43 ans, est venue au Québec avec son mari et ses trois enfants, motivée par un projet de réorientation professionnelle. Elle a suivi un double DEP en secrétariat et comptabilité avant d’intégrer le marché du travail. Récit. 

Linda Cano, mariée, 43 ans, native du sud de la France, est venue s’installer au Québec dans la région de l’Estrie. Au centre de son projet d’immigration : une reconversion professionnelle, facilitée par un retour à l’école. Son diplôme en secrétariat lui a ouvert les portes d’une passionnante carrière dans un journal local. 

Paul Darlin Tchignou, from Cameroon, is currently studying in Amos, Abitibi, in Health, Assistance and Nursing. The young man, who is in his thirties, found his calling as a licensed practical nurse, a profession that aligns with his values of empathy and helping others.

Nathalie Boujard, along with her spouse and daughter, left France to come and live an adventure in Québec. It was an opportunity for her to find a new challenging and essential trade: water treatment operator, a trade that happens to be a male-dominated profession.

Clovis Soffack left Cameroon for Québec. His goal was to train in Automated Systems Electromechanics. To achieve this, he undertook a journey that would take him to Baie-James. He traded in the sun in Douala for the cold in northern Québec. Clovis is sharing his experience in vocational training.

Gaëtan Receveur has worked as a gendarme and as a photographer. As he was approaching his thirties, with his spouse by his side, he decided to deepen his passion for computers by enrolling in the DVS in Computing Support. The French student, who has recently arrived in Québec, is talking to us about his training and new life.

Although today she is well settled in Québec, Saoussen had many moments of doubt. Moving to a foreign country always comes with its fair share of questions. For Saoussen, the answers came to her as she persevered. Between her studies, her work and her family, she succeeded through determination and courage.

Anne-Marie Asselin has been sailing the seas since her student days at the Institut maritime du Québec (IMQ) in Rimouski. Québec's maritime world offers adventure and discovery. Come aboard with Anne-Marie, who has agreed to talk about her time at the IMQ and her various sailing experiences.

Mamady Berete, a Guinean with a university degree in Guinea, chose to study Welding and Fitting (DVS) in Abitibi. According to him, Québec sets itself apart by the quality of its education and its many job opportunities. Halfway through completing his DVS, he is sharing his story.

Ludivine Roche did not hesitate to leave for Québec. Her choice? A DVS in Accounting. It was an eye-opening experience as she, like thousands of students, was isolated at home due to the pandemic. She had to keep strong. Resilience, patience, and being far from her family; this journey had its fair share of challenges.

Fleur Lemoine was born in Bayonne, France. Already interested in Québec as a teenager, Fleur held on to her dreams and never forgot the beautiful province. Today she is a licensed practical nurse who trained at the Centre de formation professionnelle des métiers de la santé, in Kirkland, and he is blossoming in her new life. Armel grew up in Yaoundé, surrounded by his eight brothers and sisters. After his studies in Cameroon, he decided to deepen his technical knowledge. For this, he chose Québec. Supported by his family, he opted for a DVS in Industrial Construction and Maintenance Mechanics at the Carrefour formation Mauricie in Shawinigan. That was just the beginning of his adventure. 

Besma Moumni Ep Ben Janallah is from Tunisia. After a stint in Saud Arabia, she and her family chose to settle in Québec. Her immigration journey inspires admiration and has led her to return to school in a DVS in Installation and Repair of Telecommunications Equipment.

Jérémy Blaser, 39, originally from France, decided to move to Québec. It was by undertaking a vocational training that he was able to discover the job market and establish himself permanently in Québec. He is sharing his successful journey with Compétences Québec. 

Marie-Ève Beauregard, from Lachute, won gold at the Skills Canada National Competition in Autobody Repair. Previously a hairdresser, she changed career paths and found a job she is passionate about while returning to school with determination. 

27-year-old Juliette Gagnon, from Lanoraie, works as an ore extraction miner at the Casa Berardi mine in La Sarre. After years of questioning in a social context where gender identity and sexual orientation are still subject to discrimination, Juliette began to reflect on her professional future, which led her to return to school.
