Mamady Berete, a Guinean with a university degree in Guinea, chose to study Welding and Fitting (DVS) in Abitibi. According to him, Québec sets itself apart by the quality of its education and its many job opportunities. Halfway through completing his DVS, he is sharing his story.

Welder-pipefitter Debby Corriveau studied at the Centre de formation professionnelle de Lévis and made her way in a male-dominated trade. This path is accessible to women more than ever due to changing mentalities in the field. What's more, the growing presence of women in so-called male-dominated trades has been identified as a means of improving the supply of skilled tradespersons in the workforce.

Amy Ovans is no stranger to hard work and willpower. She enrolled in the DVS for Welding while waiting for her chance to become a heavy equipment operator. In the end, she never left the field and is working her way up the ladder.
