Program Objectives

The Photography program aims to properly train a photographer. Among their tasks, a photographer takes contracts from communication and design agencies, media, industries, companies, establishments, institutions and the general public. A photographer may also create personal and artistic projects. Photographers are often independantly employed. Their work consists of making portraits, photographing special events, commercial and industrial photos, advertisements, documentaries, and reports on art and authors. Most of the time, they work on evaluating the needs of their clientele and planning photo sessions as well as props, background and proper lighting. After processing their material, the final product is delivered to the client. Photographers often manage their own photo archives and assure that their work is produced.

Total length of training includes general training that is common to all programs for 420 hours, general training for this program for 150 hours as well as complementary general training courses for 90 hours.

Duration of training consists of theory and lab work for courses; personal time that the student invests is excluded.

Photographer

Photographers take photos (portraits, events, advertising, press, commercial, industrial, medical, etc.), develop and retouch them. They may also work as a photographer’s assistant, in a business selling photography equipment or in a photo development laboratory. This is an exciting profession for creative people who have artistic abilities and an eye for detail. A career as a photographer requires good organizational skills, good communication skills, a tolerance for uncertainty and a versatile, meticulous and resourceful personality.
