Admission Conditions and Prerequisites

To be eligible for admission to the Continuing Education Program in Palliative Care, candidates must meet the following conditions:
- Hold a DVS in Health, Assistance and Nursing – 5787
- Be a member of OIIAQ
- Have worked in a long-term care facility for at least five years
or
- Have other relevant experience working with the elderly

Palliative Care for Nursing Assistants

Licensed practical nurses in palliative care monitor vital signs, see to nutrition, administer medications, change dressings and provide comfort to people at the end of life or those who are most severely deprived of their independence. This is a very rewarding and essential job that suits empathetic, discreet and vigilant people. A job as a licensed practical nurse in palliative care requires excellent physical condition, good listening skills, initiative and good judgment.
