Objectifs du programme

The Electrotechnology program aims to train students to be able to perform the activities related to production and set-up of materials and electrical and electronic equipment. The candidates will be employed in public service industries, computer service industries, in telecommunications, factories that produce electric and electronic materials, technical council boards, public and para-public organizations, editing companies and in transport as well as in radiotelecommunications and entertainment. They may also be called to manage projects and personnel, to do customer support, to manage stock and perform administrative duties.

Specialization A - Telecommunications

The main activities and tasks associated with telecommunications technologists are: installations and set up of service, maintenance, repair and modifications or updates of telecummunications systems.

Specialization B - Computers and network

The main activities and tasks associated with computers and network technologists are (electronic section): installation, maintenance, repair and modification fo electronic and computer equipment; (computer section): installation of material and software, maintenance, repair and customer service; (network section): installation, maintenance and functionality of a network and the necessary equipment.

Specialization C - Audiovisual

The main activities and tasks associated with audiovisual technologists are: installation and service set-up, maintenance, repair and modification or updating professional production and post-production systems and high quality diffusion. Radiotelecommunication technicians install, put together and repair electonic equipment that serves to record and broadcast live, as well as recorded, radio and televisions shows, as well as producing audio and visual trailers that are broadcast on the Internet. They work in radio and television broadcasting companies, broadcast equipment companies, and for Internet service communication providers.

Total length of training includes general training that is common to all programs for 420 hours, general training for this program for 150 hours as well as complementary general training courses for 90 hours.

Duration of training consists of theory and lab work for courses; personal time that the student invests is excluded.

Conditions d'admission et préalables

To be admitted to the program, a person must meet the general requirements for admission set out in the College Education Regulations, as well as the following special conditions, where applicable:

Must have passed the following secondary-level course(s):

• Sec. IV TS or S or Secondary V CST Mathematics: Technical and Scientific option (564426) or Secondary IV Science option (565426) or Secondary V Cultural, Social and Technical Option (563504).
• Sec. IV TS or ATS – Secondary IV Science and Technology (555444) or Applied Science and Technology (557416)

Technicien en électronique

Les techniciennes et les techniciens en électronique entretiennent et réparent de l’équipement informatique, audiovisuel ou de télécommunication. Ils assemblent et configurent des systèmes informatiques et dépannent divers systèmes bureautiques. Dans le cadre de leurs fonctions, ils peuvent être appelés à dessiner des schémas électroniques, à effectuer l’éclairage, la prise de son et l’enregistrement vidéo d’événements ou encore à réaliser du montage vidéo et audio. C’est un métier stimulant dans un domaine en constante évolution. Un emploi comme technicien en électronique exige des aptitudes pour les mathématiques et les sciences ainsi qu’une personnalité appliquée et méthodique.
