Leaving the African continent and one’s home in Cameroon to study in Québec, Canada, is an adventure in itself. It becomes a journey of courage and audacity when one chooses a traditionally male sector. This is the story of 21-year-old Doria Togou, a student in Computing Support at the Centre de formation professionnelle Marie-Rollet.

As a child, she would tag along to job sites with her father. That spark of interest grew, and after several years on the job market, Jenifer now teaches electricity at the École Professionnelle des Métiers. Is this trade exclusive to men? No way!

Amy Ovans is no stranger to hard work and willpower. She enrolled in the DVS for Welding while waiting for her chance to become a heavy equipment operator. In the end, she never left the field and is working her way up the ladder.

She made her own way. Although her path was strewn with pitfalls, victories and sometimes questioning, Karine Boucher has finally fulfilled her wish: to work in a construction trade. Winner of the Olympiades québécoises des métiers et des technologies and the Hats Off to You! contest, she is an example of perseverance.

The garage is like a second home to her, and she has found her passion working as a mechanic.  A know-how passed down from her parents that she perfected at the Centre De Formation En Mécanique De Véhicules Lourds. From the classrooms where she was able to assert herself with intelligence and know-how, to the garage where she puts into practice the skills she has acquired, Frédérick Lamontagne is a remarkable example of perseverance and proficiency.

Mélanie Prévost is one of our Tradeswomen Trailblazers, a true leader in the field of plumbing and heating for over twenty years. While she started in plumbing, she then decided to specialize in heating. Clients were expecting the father, but they got the daughter instead. She is now a teacher at the École Polymécanique de Laval and is taking a look back on her journey.

Médaillé de bronze au Mondial des métiers à Lyon, Anthony Minotti a su allier passion et expertise. Le diplômé du DEP en Mécanique automobile a fait briller le Québec en décrochant une des deux médailles canadiennes. Sa détermination et son talent font de lui un véritable modèle d'inspiration pour tous les aspirants mécaniciens.

Roxanne Landry, 27 ans, a choisi le métier de ferblantière, l’un des plus anciens au monde, qui consiste à découper, façonner et assembler le métal.

À 48 ans, Nancy Gagné a fait le pari audacieux de suivre son cœur pour se lancer dans une nouvelle aventure professionnelle en tant que calorifugeuse.
