Program Objectives

Admission Conditions and Prerequisites

To be eligible for admission to the Timber Transformation (Furniture Assembly) program, candidates must satisfy the following requirements:1. Have obtained at least Secondary III credits or the equivalent in the language of instruction, second language and mathematicsor Have obtained an Attestation of Equivalence of Secondary V Studies (AESS)or Have successfully completed the General Development Test (GDT) with or without specific prerequisites2. Timber Transformation (Furniture Assembly)

Woodworking machine operators, also known as cabinetmaker apprentices or shop workers, make and assemble furniture, modules and wood products using machine tools. As part of their duties, they may be required to perform special finishes or finishing (e.g., staining, varnishing, enameling). A job as a woodworking machine operator requires patience and attention to detail. It is a solitary occupation for those who love wood and have good manual skills.
