Objectifs du programme

Promote the acquisition of the skills required to operate machinery at one or more workstations for the purpose of manufacturing furniture and finished wood products. The work is carried out in small or medium-sized companies specializing in the mass processing of timber.

Conditions d'admission et préalables

To be eligible for admission to the Timber Transformation (Furniture Assembly) program, candidates must satisfy the following requirements:1. Have obtained at least Secondary III credits or the equivalent in the language of instruction, second language and mathematicsor Have obtained an Attestation of Equivalence of Secondary V Studies (AESS)or Have successfully completed the General Development Test (GDT) with or without specific prerequisites2. Have interrupted their full-time studies for at least 12 monthsor Are 18 years old when entering trainingor Have obtained a Secondary School Diploma (SSD) or a Diploma of Vocational Studies (DVS) or their equivalentor Meet the eligibility conditions of Emploi-Québec’s workforce training measureX This program is accessible via the TCST-STC bridge.

Timber Transformation (Furniture Assembly)

Les conductrices et les conducteurs de machines à travailler le bois, aussi appelés apprentis ébénistes ou ouvriers d’atelier, fabriquent et assemblent des meubles, des modules et des produits en bois à l’aide de machines-outils. Dans le cadre de leurs fonctions, ils peuvent avoir à réaliser des finis spéciaux ou à effectuer la finition (teinture, vernis, émaux, par exemple). Un emploi comme conducteur de machines à travailler le bois exige patience et minutie. C’est un métier solitaire pour qui aime le bois et possède de bonnes habiletés manuelles.
