Objectifs du programme

Specialists in this trade work in the metallurgy sector, and perform various tasks such as preparing, assembling and welding various components and accessories. More specifically, they drill and prepare parts, assemble them, use the GTAW and RSW processes to weld them, straighten them and control buckling, polish them and apply surface treatments, and control the quality of manufactured products.

Stainless steel welders work in a variety of sectors of activity such as the food processing industry, hotel and restaurant services, laboratory equipment manufacturing, the hospital sector and architecture.

Conditions d'admission et préalables

To be eligible for admission to the Stainless Steel Welding: GTAW and RSW program, candidates must meet the following requirements:
- Have earned Secondary III credits or the equivalent in language of instruction, second language and mathematics
OR
Hold an Attestation of Equivalence (AENS) for Secondary III studies
OR
Have successfully completed the General Development Test (GDT) without specific requirements
- Be at least 18 years of age
OR
Meet the eligibility requirements for Emploi-Québec’s Manpower Training Measure
(This STC is eligible for the TCST-STC bridge)

Admission requirements for the TCST-STC bridge

The admission requirements for the TCST-STC bridge are identical to those that apply to the TCST-DVS bridge:
- Hold a TCST;
AND - Be at least 16 years old on September 30 of the school year in which you start vocational training;
AND - Have earned the required credits in language of instruction, second language and mathematics in Secondary Cycle 1 in general education in the youth sector or in Secondary II in adult general education.

Stainless Steel Welding : GTAW and RSW

Les soudeuses et les soudeurs d’acier inoxydable pour les procédés GTAW et RSW préparent, assemblent et soudent selon les procédés spécifiques. Ils effectuent des traitements de surface et contrôlent la qualité des produits fabriqués. C’est un métier passionnant qu’il est possible d’exercer dans des industries variées, mais qui s’exerce dans des environnements difficiles (chaleur, hauteurs, etc.). Un emploi à titre de soudeur d’acier inoxydable pour les procédés GTAW et RSW exige une bonne acuité visuelle et une grande dextérité manuelle. Il convient aux personnes minutieuses, précises et responsables.
