Objectifs du programme

The purpose of this program is to train educators for child care services for children ages 0-12 years. The main function of the educators consists of creating a an environment that favours physical, psychomotor, cognitive, language, and socio-affective skills, and morals while establishing a positive relationship with the children. They are also responsible for the conception, organization, animation and evaluation of activities that contribute globally to the development of the children that are left in their care.

Total length of training includes general training that is common to all programs for 420 hours, general training for this program for 150 hours as well as complementary general training courses for 90 hours.


Duration of training consists of theory and lab work for courses; personal time that the student invests is excluded.

Éducatrice de la petite enfance

Les éducateurs et les éducatrices à l’enfance, aussi appelées éducatrices en garderie, planifient et animent des activités récréatives et éducatives. Elles assurent une saine alimentation et des soins d’hygiène et de santé aux enfants. Dans leur milieu de garde familial, scolaire, une garderie privée ou un centre de la petite enfance, elles ont comme tâche d’observer et d’évaluer le développement et les besoins des enfants d’âge préscolaire et scolaire et d’intervenir au regard de leurs comportements. C’est un métier essentiel qui demande de l’empathie, de l’autonomie, de la vigilance et de la créativité. Il convient aux personnes en bonne condition physique qui aiment être en compagnie des enfants.
