Diplome d'études collégiales (DEC)

Le diplôme d'études collégiales ou DEC est délivré par le ministère de l'Enseignement supérieur (MES) et est décerné pour des études techniques ou préuniversitaires.

Les programmes d'études techniques ont pour objet principal de préparer au marché du travail, bien qu'ils puissent donner accès aux études universitaires. Ils nécessitent généralement trois ans d'études (six sessions). Leur composante de formation spécifique comprend entre 45 et 65 unités. Ces programmes comportent au moins un stage pratique en milieu de travail.

D'une durée générale de deux ans (quatre sessions), les programmes d'études préuniversitaires ont pour objet principal de préparer aux études universitaires. En plus des composantes de formation générale, un programme d'études préuniversitaires comprend une composante de formation spécifique au programme choisi. Le nombre d'unités varie selon le programme d'études.
